FOG - Will we ever get better?

Yes it is FOGGY here today but it also seems that illness has been hanging over the village now like pea soup for a very long time. Just when we think we are in the clear, those blasted bugs come back.  My daughter was very kind in accommodating tonsilitus over the Christmas Holiday and before that for a few weeks the usual cough and cold blighters where around. I am doing very well at keeping a lurgie at bay, I'm sure it is lurking in some deep dark corner waiting for me to forget it's there!  and now with us back to 'normaility' my daughter is ill again! the antibiotics seemed to have done the trick, but 2 days have gone by now and we are waiting for the duty doctor to call us as all the appointments have gone for the day.

Other friends in the Village near by have had self-inflicted illnesses brought upon themselves due to excessive amounts of alcohol - I will be sending you Get Well Cards!

But we must go on of course! ready to bring in the NEW YEAR - 2011 - what will it bring, happiness, joy, peace and maybe a new job would be nice.

So things to celebrate today

1) kids have discovered how to turn on the CD player,
2) kids have discovered how to change CDs
3) kids have discovered how to TURN UP THE VOLUME!
4) but kids have not discovered how to turn down the volume.
5) kids still remember the words to their Christmas Nativity song - JINGLE BELLS
6) the dustmen will be here tomorrow!
7) think there is no more we can do with turkey
8) my brain age is coming down
9) my body is still functioning after playing Wii Dance last night
10) soon be time for lunch!

Office Politics at the Christmas Lunch

It's getting to that point of the year when I need to make the decision [I am lucky] of which office lunch I will be attending.

You see I am on secondment from one team to another as I came back from Adoption Leave to find myself in a team which I just didnt really fit into and whilst I was only in the that team for a short while I have been invited to attend their Christmas Lunch - or rather I am still on their mailing list.

To be blunt I would actually prefer to attend the Christmas Lunch with the team I am in now - they are a lovely mixed bunch of individuals who I have just realised have something in common - we are all in someway Country Bumpkins, now whilst that phrase brings up all sorts of weird connotations to you maybe of people chewing on bits of straw! We seem to have more of a sense of community, endearment and a sense of ease about ourselves.  So the choice of which lunch is made, now to make the choice of who to sit next to.

This I don't think I will have a problem in doing as I can quite confidently say that there is no-one who I wouldn't want to sit next to [I think anyway].  I believe this is mainly due to the fact that we are a virtual team most of the time - as we inevitably have at least one day a week where we join team meetings via the phone or through our Microsoft Communicator otherwise we may pop in the office, but more often than not we are in meetings around the region on in London or working from home.

Maybe for others this is a time for great anxiety, people wanting to sit next to you, who you have been trying to get away from for the whole year - where you have to smile sweetly as they approach you , whilst you are trying to indicate to you best friend that you have saved them a seat.  I have even come across people who change seats in the office a few days before the event just so that they get with the "in" crowd before the event to guarentee a seat.

Other years I have become the office "Christmas Fairy" and organised Secret Santa and put a bit of sparkle and magic to the occassion, but this year what with the highy likelihood of redundancy, loss of child benifit, VAT going up, petrol/diesel on the continual rise, temperature staying bl**dy freezing, not many of us have that Christmas cheer - thank goodness for our little darlings.

Tuesday's Treasure

Tuesday Treasure today for me is my Wedding Day - I will always treasure the day that I spent with all the special people in my life at that time.

Some have departed but will be with me forever in my heart, whilst others have arrived to share in the love and joy of my life now, and I am hopeful that there will be many more to join in.

So I share with you the image that was captured of me on that day thirteen and half years ago, for which I still can't believe is me!

Busy, Busy, Busy and LUXEury

I've been a bit tied up recently what with work, home, Christmas, and my Open University course, things are having to take a back burner.  I am also trying to restrict how much time I go online! so housework will still be there tomorrow and the next day!

Whilst it has been a bit tricky to drive in and around the Village this week, I have had some beautiful walks in the snow with Poppy Dog, have taken a few pics [of course] as well, but just haven't had the time to look at them!

Last Night we went to the Cinema for the first time in over 18 months! I needed my fix of the latest Harrpy Potter Film and as well as that we havent been out for an evening by ourselves since the children arrived last August.  I was starting to become a protective mummy - "shall I text the babysitter to see if all ok?" - I asked hubby every 30mins or so! "No" was the reply "if there is something wrong they will text" so I texted in the intermission - Yes that's right you did read it correctly - The Intermission.  I thought it would be a good idea to try The Luxe in Wisbech about 7 miles away from us, much much nearer than Peterborough - our big metropolis - as didn't want to be too far from my babies.

So I thought I would attempt to give my first personal review to The Luxe Cinema - An Independant Cinema http://www.theluxecinema.co.uk/
The Cinema - a home from home, a wonderful cosy place to come in from the snow and ice.  We were greeted by 3 lovely staff who could not do enough to help us.  The Luxe is only able to offer high value seats at very reasonable prices.  Available are either one of three cosy "premier" 2 seater sofas with a drinks table and waitress service.  Or a mixture of around 40 large leather armchairs and leather 2 seater sofas. The Luxe also boasts a licenced bar where you can get pre, post and intermission drinks, hubby was very pleased as they had Dark Rum! not many independant restaurants / or liscensed places serve Dark Rum.
