Mountains, Rainbows and Owls

I have decided to try and put a bit more thought behind my postings this time and so have spent a couple of days posing over my words, whether you as a reader agree that it was of benefit or not is up to you.
Last week I again found myself away from my village not on my own this time but along with my children we headed across the country all 233 miles of it to South Wales where I stayed with my best friend for a couple of days.  I was trying to remember the last time I went to Wales and I believe it must have been when I was a child on holiday with my parents and my brother visiting an Uncle and Aunt near Aberystwyth.  What wonderful memories that brought back – how there were no worries, playing on the hills in the woods, laughing and singing our way in the car with our tape recorder playing “Brown Girl in the Ring tra la la la la” well the only worries for me was sharing the outside toilet with the largest daddy longlegs I could think of.  I’m sure we must have been naughty at some point, but have never had cause to remember those times.
Whilst in Wales my friend took me up some mountains and once me and the car had got over the fact that we were no longer below sea level and were driving up and down 16% inclines [this is a lot when you live on the Fens] the scenery was breathe taking.  And in the past I thought not being able to see a whole sky landscape would be terrible in fact I had lots to see – like the beautiful rainbow that appeared above us whilst we were walking in the valley and the colours of the trees – so many of them! Again something that can be quite rare here. Which leads me to the pinnacle – the top of the mountain and the view to be seen – miles and miles around with the clouds just a little tiny touch out of reach.
Back in my Village and my husband and I decided to do a bit of star gazing with my camera and tripod – WOW, AMAZING  is all I can say the camera with a long exposure was able to pick up soooooooo many stars, this is one of the wonderments of living in a Village the sky is so black with no or very limited amounts of reflections from street lighting, we even managed to pick up a plane as it trailed across the sky, unfortunately we had the camera pointing in the wrong part of the sky to capture the shooting star that we saw.

Finally for today’s post whilst taking the kids to Nursery early this morning just as the dawn was breaking we drove around the corner of a dyke, and the most magnificent Barn Owl appeared and slowly made its way across a field looking for its breakfast, we stopped for a short while so the kids could watch him hovering, swooping and hunting.  He was so quiet that as the Owl fluttered the horses in the field didn’t even flinch – I think I’m going to have to keep my camera in the car!  He posed for me on the fence as I returned home but just no long enough to use my phone camera.  Lets hope he got some breakfast so until next time hope you enjoyed the read.

I've got stuck - well a bit

I think the honeymoon period is over, although I seem to think of lots to say here usually in the darkest hours of the night.

I have been reading up on a few "How to" blogs " How to write better", "How to attract readers", "How to make my page look nice" and they have left food for thought.

Some suggest taking your time - take up to a month to write a blog entry!!! a month I say, but then what do I want to get out of this blog - somewhere in the back of my mind shouts FAME! MONEY, and quietly Recognition, I am writing as my blog title suggests thoughts from a village, maybe a personal diary of events that have happened, but do we honestly all need to share our most personal, intimate feelings with the world or are we a selective breed when it comes to the final dot over the i?

I deeply feel that there is a part of me that wants to know if I'm any good or should I just hang my fingers out to dry now and just concentrate on being the mother to my children, wife to my husband, without worrying about comments and whats happening in the cybermummyworld, or continue for a little longer and "see how it goes".

[cup of tea and a jammy biscuit later all of 15mins]

I have decided to continue - writing when I want to, not feeling that I have to write every minuscule thing down, being selective and use this as an aid memoir to my life for my children, family and friends.

Finally, should I leave my readers with a question?
I really don't know about that one, but here in the triangle of the Fens, its overcast, grey and a little chilly  so have you got Mr Sunshine today then?

Feels like Friday

yuk, keep pinching myself I keep thinking it's Friday. The kids have had a busy week without their mummy for a day and a half and they came home from Nursery today tired, inconsolable, and just uncooperative, it didn't help having the social worker over looking me as I tried to put son into his car seat - would he get in the darn thing - NO - so calm, tired Mummy had to find a way of coercing him into his seat – the toy dog who wanted to get in instead worked like a treat, and son was sitting in his car seat before you could finish saying supercalafragerlisticexpalidosious!

So we got home and one in the garden [a beautiful October afternoon] the kids were happy to show the social worker how they could scoot and jump on the trampoline [not at the same time I hasten to add] and everyone was happy until time to cook tea!

Made a lovely chicken korma, which kids picked at, however not sure if husband is OK as he has gone to bed before 9pm feeling queasy. – I’m feeling fine but tired so maybe heading off to the land of nod pretty soon too.

Just enough time to say we watched a great film last night The Time Travellers Wife http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0452694/ a nice little film to make you appreciate what you have.

Also have ordered the Jamie Lee Lewis book called - Tell my again about the night I was born, all about the first night that a mummy meets her newly adopted child,  looking forward to receiving it in the post, hope it comes very soon! - So have linked to the publishers website for more information.

Well it is definitely Friday tomorrow, no nursery, no work and husband has day off too! Lets see what the day will bring hopefully a lie in.

Out of the Village - should I be?

Well here I am out of the Village, I am on a very bumpy train to Newcastle for work [well I'm not now - as I am not in 1st Class so I do not get complementary access to the internet - so I am now typing this whilst in my non descriptive room - or should I say where I am staying and give it a good review? maybe once I have left the building so to speak].
Anyway, as I was saying - I'm out! I haven't really been out of the village for a while away on my own and so may say as I new Mummy I shouldn't be - but bills need to be paid, Osbourne as had his say [is that pith stuck in my tooth] and I need to be out to work in order to have a comfortable life.  I will be ringing my darling kiddiewinks in a short while who probably won't notice I have gone as they have the child minder, Daddy, Nanna & Grandpa to look after them, how will I cope ummm probably a sleepless night not have the baby monitor in the room - but I will let you know!!!!!
So I started to write this blog in long hand on the train in my "blogging notepad", I had lost a pen, which I'm sure was in my hand and then the train was going round a bend and being quite bumpy and I then realised that I had to check my work Raspberry thing and the pen had vanished, I kept checking every so often to see if it appeared and bless it it did later on.
Ahhh York I [heart] York! the station is lovely bustling feeling watching everyone saying hello, goodbye and damm I've missed that train.  I have just finished reading my work for my meeting tomorrow and so now can look out the window, I can see rain clouds blowing over hills/mountains  [our Village is below sea level!]a lovely feeling with Adagio In G Minor by Albioni playing on my ipod, and thinking about the last time I was on the train - it was a more stressful journery with me + 2 toddlers + Nanna and 4.5 hours travelling not being able to sit still for more than half an hour.

Don't want to make this too long an entry as may do more later tonight!!! but have now arrived at Hotel and have changed rooms - which was carried out very nicely by the receptionist - I was facing another grey building overlooking a dreary courtyard, now I can see the SAGE building and just about the millenium bridge see pics for views outside my window  and the room is quite refreshingly cool!

Out to tea catch u later !

The eve of my birthday

I'm terrible, I'm like a little kid - I love Birthdays even if I have to make my own cake, remind the husband in countdown fashion that it's 4 weeks to my birthday, 3 weeks to my birthday, 2 weeks [you get the jist!]

Just finished making the cake - will ice it tormorrow, just plain white I think and then made some Panna Cotta yum yum.

So I have just sat down with a nice cup of tea and rung my Mum to tell her that I will miss her tomorrow, but will see her later in the week and arrange to meet up for a nice lunch, we also remember my Grandma's Birthday as she would have been 93 years old today and reflect on the day as it is the Feast day of the Guardian Angels as well http://saints.sqpn.com/guardian-angels/

I relayed the latest antics of the grandchildren to her which made us both laugh - Son would not stop talking for a 2 1/2 year old he certainly goes on and on, we were driving to the supermarket and I asked him to have a sleep on the way and he said ok and I looked in the rear view mirror and the kid had gone to sleep!

Daughter did not seem happy with her clothes today she told Daddy that her jeans were broken - in fact they were fashionably adorned with false patchwork squares, so we told her that she was our little fashion princess, somehow I don't think she was convinced.

Took Poppy Dog for a walk after tea, but unfortunately we came home with her a bag of nerves as some village folk have decided to shoot at pigeons and hearing the shot guns going off in close range became a little scarry for both Poppy and me, these are the sorts of village sounds that we tend to hear now and again, I don't mind them from a distance but less that 100 metres too close!

Lets hope it's a good day tomorrow  - even if it rains which is a 99.9% chance that it will.
